In 1997, Cameron was one of the youngest musicians to be selected three years in a row to the prestigious Honor Band of America. She toured Europe with the group and played many different venues, including The World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles in Schladming, Austria.
Cameron received a scholarship to the University of Georgia where she studied classical trumpet under Fred Mills, one of the founding members of the Canadian brass.
During her sophomore year, Cameron auditioned for and was selected to the North American touring cast of the Tony Award-winning Broadway production, "Blast!" She feels honored to have been a featured trumpet soloist in both "Blast!" and "Blast 2- M.I.X." (Music in Extreme). Over the past 8 years, she has toured the U.S., parts of Canada, and almost all major cities in Japan with the shows. Last summer while promoting MIX, Cameron appeared on several Japanese TV shows and even has an interview in the popular "Sax and Brass" magazine.
In between tours with Blast, Cameron worked on finishing her undergraduate degree, enrolling in The Jazz Studies program at The College of Charleston. After completing her degree in three years, she plays regularly around town. She is one of the charter members of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra, not to mention the youngest and only female.
After auditioning in Atlanta in the summer of 2006, Cameron was flown to NYC as one of two finalists for Beyonce's all female band. She is currently on a US tour as Michael Bolton's trumpet player, and will be as far out as Europe and Asia as well. Last year, she performed behind SEAL for a televised show in London.
Cameron keeps up her classical chops by subbing with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and playing weddings. She has also toured the Southeast for the past 2 Christmas seasons with The Crescent Brass, a local professional brass quintet.
Whenever off-tour and in Charleston, Cameron plays with Super Deluxe: "Charleston's premier party band" in clubs and wedding receptions. In addition, she plays with her life long friends from the acclaimed "Sol-Driven Train" whenever they have a home show.
When she is not touring, Cameron maintains a highly successful trumpet studio of approximately 25 students a week, ranging in age from 7 -18. Several of her students are selected to the All-Region and All-State bands every year.
